Phong: Oh, someone’s knocking at the door.
Chris: Stan . I’ve got a new job. I’m
going to live in London.
Stan: Are you? Oh, I live in Lodon
five years ago.
Chris: Did you like it?
Stan: Not very much.
Chris: Why not?
Stan: Well, there were too many people,
and there was too much noise.
Chris: Oh, I love crowds and noise.
Stan: Well, I don’t … and I don’t like
pollution.
Chris: What do you mean?
Stan: Oh, there isn’t enough fresh air
in London.
Chris: But there are a lot of parks.
Stan: Yes, I know… and people sleep in
them!
Chris: Why?
Stan: Because there isn’t enough
accommodation… there aren’t enough flats and houses.
Chris: Well, I still prefer big cities.
Stan: But why?
Chris: I was born in a small country
village. It was too quiet.
Stan: You were lucky!
Chris: I don’t think so. There wasn’t
much to do. That’s why young people go to London.
Stan: But London’s too expensive for
young people.
Chris: But they still go … they want
excitement
Stan: Hmm… I don’t want excitement. I just
want a quiet life, that’s all.
-----------------Phong: Oh, someone’s knocking at the door.
Phong’s
Mum:
Hi, Vy. You’re early. Phong’s having breakfast.
Vy:
Hi, Mrs Nguyen. Oh dear, I’m sorry. I’m excited about our first day at school.
Phong’s
Mum:
Ha ha, I see. Please come in.
Vy:
Hi, Phong. Are you ready?
Phong:
Yes, just a minute
Duy:
Hi, Phong. Nice to meet you too. I live here now. I go to the same school as
you
Phong:
That’s good. School will be great – you’ll see. Hmm, you your schoolbag looks
heavy.
Duy:
Yes, it is. I have new notebooks, a new calculator, and new pens.
Phong:
And you’re wearing the new uniform Duy. You look smart!
Duy:
Thanks, Phong.
Phong:
Let me put my uniform too. Then we can go.
Vy: Sure, Phong.
Vy: Sure, Phong.

Hi Trang
How are you? This is the first week at my new school. Now,
I’m doing my homework in the library, I
have lots to do already!
I have lots of friends and they are all nice to me. We study many subjects –
maths, science, and English of course!
I have a new uniform, but I don’t wear it every day (only on
Mondays and Saturdays). I have lessons
in the morning. In the afternoon, I read books
in the library or do sports in the playground. How is your new school?
Do you study the same subjects as me? Do you play batminton with your friends?
School starts again next Monday. It’s late now so I have to
go home.
Please write soon.
Love,
Vy
